A FISHING PARADISE
Lough Meila Lodge is set in a fisherman's paradise, with over one hundred and thirty lakes - or loughs as we call them here - within a five-mile radius.
These loughs of West Donegal are abundant with salmon, brown trout and sea trout. Many are stocked by the local Rosses Anglers' Association, which also supplies permits (fly only) at a very reasonable price.
Lough Meila itself is literally twenty yards from our front door. Salmon anglers can try their hand in the nearby Crolly River, or the famous Finn, which is less than an hour away.
Sea angling
This is also a great place for sea angling. These Atlantic waters yield a vast diversity of fish - pollack, cod, ling, coalfish, wrasse, gurnard, conger, and shark.
Burtonport, just down the road from the Lodge, is a popular sea-angling centre and offers safe access to among hidden coves and sheltered bays which provide magnificent fishing.
